Robertsbridge is a thriving community with a friendly village feel and there is plenty to do and get involved in. There are many societies and clubs and an active bonfire society that have their annual bonfire in mid-November every year – a must-see event. There is also a Christmas Capers event where shops and houses open throughout the evening to offer Christmas activities & there is a Christmas procession through the High Street. The high street offers a variety of shops including a Post Office, pharmacy, artisan coffee shop and convenience stores. There is also an excellent selection of pubs within the village and surrounding areas. The area supports several good state and private schools.

The village of Robertsbridge is thought to date back to 1176, when a Cistercian abbey was founded there by Abbott Robert De St Martin. The name Robertsbridge was first used in 1198 when Richard I granted a market charter. The abbey was dissolved in 1538, however, the village flourished and many of the oldest houses in the village date back to the 14th and 15th centuries. The characterful high street boasts a collection of wonderful houses and cottages.
