Beschrijving
Dr. Alexander Hatsis is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in complicated cataracts and laser vision correction. A pioneer in the field, he was one of the expert U.S. surgeons who contributed to gaining FDA approval for laser vision correction and was the first surgeon to perform LASIK on Long Island in 1995.
Dr. Hatsis has authored 18 research articles and multiple textbook chapters on LASIK and cataract surgery. His expertise extends to phakic implant lenses, where he participated in the FDA approval process starting in 1996. He was also the first on Long Island to treat keratoconus with Collagen Cross-Linking in 2007. In addition, Dr. Hatsis was among the first surgeons to perform EVO Visian ICL lens implant surgery, an additive technology that corrects vision without removing any corneal tissue.
For over 20 years, Dr. Hatsis has been committed to patient care, research, and teaching. He also dedicates time to global outreach, traveling twice a year to Central and South America to perform cataract surgery for medically underserved communities.
Dr. Hatsis speaks fluent Italian and Spanish, along with limited Greek. Outside of medicine, he enjoys surfing, jet skiing, scuba diving, and spending time with his family.
